“Blink” technology (patented trademark and process) producing 2-colored rubber sheets

Ilga Gomma has recently developed a new process technology named “Blink” to produce 2-colored rubber sheets.

The process, outcome of studies and research performed inside the company, is definitely new and therefore patented. Blink technology is a real innovation of process/product in the moulding sector of rubber sheets

Current situation

It is well known, until today physical features of rubber set a limit on production of 2-colored rubber sheets. Particularly, viscosity of rubber and flashing formed in moulding are especially odd when people try to create new aesthetic or chromatic solutions. Technologies used so far have some technical limit, as:

• A small canal separating colours; this prevents the creation of thin 2-coloured lines

• moulding with 2-coloured presses creates ugly side-flashings, and moreover 2-coloured bottom surfaces are not allowed

• stuck pieces need expensive manufacturing and are structurally weak at the sticking point

With this technology developed in Ilga Gomma, we avoid all problems previously described and we can manufacture 2-coloured (or even more colours) rubber goods with every kind of pattern: particularly we can produce many innovative drawings, or even the customer’s logo in 2-colours, to customize soles or other rubber inset. Thanks to “Blink”, constrains to customer’s creativity are reduced, but the same technical features of the standard product are fulfilled

Thanks to the particular production process and to the adopted solutions, Blink ™ technology is not expensive nor requires particular moulds, as it uses devices, machineries and outfits that already existing in the factory Ilga in Vigevano
